Our tinted tallow lip balm is made with just 3 ingredients: 100% grass-fed irish beef tallow and beeswax to deeply hydrate, soften, and protect your lips – while a touch of red iron oxide mineral pigment adds a natural, rosy tint. The tint is buildable, so you can apply one layer for a sheer wash of colour or add more for a deeper, sun-kissed look.

The simple roots of colour

For most of history, lip colour was beautifully simple:
fat + wax + mineral pigment.

Animal fats nourished the skin, wax gave the product structure, and natural earth pigments added colour. This basic formula has been used for centuries across cultures – long before modern cosmetic chemistry existed.

In ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, mineral pigments like iron oxides were commonly used to tint skin and lips. These pigments occur naturally in the earth and have been used safely for colouring ceramics, paints and cosmetics for thousands of years.

Modern cosmetic formulas often take a different path. Many products replace traditional fats with long blends of plant oils and add stabilisers, starches, emulsifiers and synthetic colourants to achieve a similar result.

Our approach is simpler.
